My Kitchen (Hainanese Cuisine)

Me and May wanted to drive down to Melaka at first but on second thought, we better not due to the long weekend and public holiday, it surely will be congested there so we went to this restaurant called My Kitchen instead. Was recommended by Shaolin Tiger and his twitpic on the Chicken Rice balls really looked good! It took us half an hour to find this place because I didn't check out the address in the first place. Just went straight to Aman Suria. In fact, My Kitchen is not located in Aman Suria, but next to it, Sunway Mas Commercial Centre.

So we finally found the restaurant, and park the car and quickly get into the shop. It was an extremely hot day. And we were extremely hungry too. It was already 2PM and we hadn't had lunch yet, so in our mind we thought, this better be good.

The interior are mostly frames of photos, newspaper cut outs, reviews of the shop. From the pictures, we know that the owner is a lady.

It was an extremely hot day, so a Cendol with Gula Melaka is a must.

May ordered their Chicken Rice balls. It can be ordered as a personal set (With rice balls) or group set (Rice balls ordered separately). It really looked nice. Looked nicer than those in Melaka. But guess what? Their look deceived us. It was tasteless =(

Since May already ordered the chicken rice balls, I thought I might as well order something else, so here's my Hainanese Nasi Lemak. This was good though. I like it. Only thing I don't like about it is the tasteless sambal. The rice and the curry chicken was good.

Overall we were a bit disappointed with the chicken rice ball. No fight to the authentic one in Melaka. It only looks good, but tasteless. And they didn't use ayam kampung. Oh and the rice is a bit too soft too.

With its comprehensive menu of Hainanese specialties and Melaka food, I think it's a shame it's opened in Sunway Mas. It's a relatively dead area over the weekend. Maybe the owner should consider moving out to a more popular area, I'm sure traffic will increase. When we went there, there were only 1 table occupied, on a Saturday afternoon. I'd recommend you to try on other food, especially the Nasi Lemak, but not the chicken rice balls. Their other food looks nice too. Give it a try if you're around.
